Slam that door. Throw this door wide open.

I know I keep saying I am having amazing weekends, but this past weekend was the best one yet. AND, one of the best weekends I have had in a while. 🙂

The great weekend started on Friday. Less than an hour after I wrote my last blog entry about wanting to do another challenge, I got an email from a friend I met on our Mt. Adams climb about a multi-day hike/climb/camping trip the middle of August (not confirmed yet). He also mentioned a hike for Sunday. Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. Oh, the timing. 🙂

Saturday, the weather was a little gray and dreary, which was perfect, actually, since I had a lot of errands to run. I went for a run, then Pablo and I went for a walk, then I went to the vet to pick up some paperwork for Pablo, then I went to REI to get a couple of hiking things, then Pablo and I went to the lake for a quick swim (the sun had just started to come out), then I went home to get ready for dinner and a concert (Silversun Pickups). The show was awesome. They are really, really good. I realized why I like them so much: lots and lots of chord changes. 🙂

Sunday, I woke up pretty early and took Pablo for a quick walk before I headed east to meet for my hike. (Pablo stayed home for this hike. I don’t think he would have made it). We went to Granite Mountain: It was a really good hike. Hard, but fun. Unfortunately, the clouds never lifted, so we weren’t able to see the amazing views from the top. 😦 And, it was pretty cold up there, too. It took us 1:49.50 to get up, and about the same amount of time to get down. Going down is not my favorite nor my strongest. My poor knees do not like it. I used poles toward the end, which definitely helped. I managed to escape debilitating pain. 🙂 I felt really good at the end of the hike, actually. I got very, very relaxed on the ride home.

When I got home, I took Pablo for another walk. On our walk, Pablo found some more friends. We walked by a house with 4 kids playing in the yard. Pablo planted all fours when we walked by and stared. The mom saw Pablo and started gushing how cute he was. That was all he needed to invite himself in their yard to play. We ended up staying close to a half hour! The mom and I chatted while Pablo rolled around with the four children, who ranged in age from 20 months up to 8. He was in heaven! The mom and I chatted about a lot, including relationships and yoga, and she then pulled out a sampling of yoga mat bags she was selling for her sister who lives in Brooklyn. They were hand sewn by her sister, and they were beautiful. She put one aside for me and gave me her card so I could pick it up when I had money with me. Have I mentioned how shy my dog is? Man, at this rate, we are going to know all of West Seattle soon!

After Pablo and I got home, I got ready to go to “Sunday Funday” with my hiking friend. Sunday Funday was down on Beach Drive in West Seattle. I arrived to a breathtaking view to the west (we saw a spectacular sunset), the most amazing food I had eaten in a while (homemade salmon burgers, a delicious crab concoction (fresh crab on toast with melted cheddar cheese on top), ribs, bacon wrapped hot dogs, and chili (I only ate the salmon burgers and the crab). After the sunset, we all settled inside to watch Entourage. It was a fantastic Sunday Funday…all day of it!

I have this song stuck in my head, so I had to share:

My happy song at the moment. I heard it on the radio, and it caught my ear. It has a very unique sound. Catchy, happy, and a little twangy, which I actually like. Is it Country? Whatever it is, it makes me feel good. The video is fun, too. I hope it makes you smile, as it makes me smile when I listen to it over, and over, and over, and over…

HOME by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

And…the lyrics:

Alabama Arkansas I do Love my Ma and Pa
But not as much as I do Love you
Holy Moly Me oh My you’re the apple of my eye
Girl ain’t never loved one like you
Man o Man you’re my best friend I scream it to the nothingness
that we got everything we need
Hot and Heavy pumpkin pie
Chocolate candy Jesus Christ
Ain’t nothin please me more than you

Home, Let me come Home
Home is Whenever I’m with you
Home, yes I am Home
Home is wherever I’m with you

Lalalala Take me Home
Mama I’m Coming Home

I follow you into the park, thru the jungle thru the dark
Girl ain’t never loved one like you
Moats and boats and Waterfalls, Alleyways and payphone calls
I been everywhere with you
Laugh until we think we’ll die, barefoot on a summer night
never could be sweeter than with you

like its only you and me jade/ebes you’re somethin to see

Lalalala take me home
Mama I’m Comin Home

Jade, you remember that night you fell outa my window?
ya you came jumpin out after me
well, you were bleedin all over the place and I covered your ass with your dress and we went off to the hospital, you remember that?
well there’s somethin I never told you bout that night
what didn’t you tell me?
well, while you were sitting in the back seat smokin a cigarette you thought was gonna be your last, I was fallin deep, deep in love with you, and I never told you till just now!

Home, let me come home, home is wherever I’m with you
Home, yes I am Home home is whenever I’m with you!

Alabama Arkansas I do love my Ma and Pa
Yes Home, yes ward! home is whenever I’m with you!
Home is whenever I’m with you.
