Aujord-hui est le premier jour du reste de ma vie

Seahawks!! Wow. What a game. I haven’t been that excited over a football game in quite some time. It was fun. čÖé

Had a great 6 mile run yesterday. It was the longest run since the half marathon in November, and it was a piece of cake.

I went and saw Black Swan last night. Excellent movie. Dark and intense, and Natalie Portman is amazing.

Week 2 of pre-training starts this week.

When I got to work today, I was given a gift certificate for a massage from Baby H. My work family is awesome! They are so, so good to me.

Yoga tonight!

Aujord-hui est le premier jour du reste de ma vie. (Today is the first day of the rest of my life).

I just had a six day, stay-at-home, paid┬ávacation (Baby H and his parents went to New Orleans). I was worried about finding things to fill my time. I had nothing to worry about. My days were slammed from the time I woke up until I went to bed. All good things…all things I chose to do. But, busy, nonetheless. Here is what I have been doing the past six days:

Sleep. I tried to catch up on sleep. I had some pretty good night sleeps, but I could have slept more.

Run. I finished up week 10 of training on Sunday. Week 10 was a BIG week of running. Wednesday: 6 miles, Thursday: 7 miles, Friday (I have been switching my Saturday runs for Fridays): 6 miles, Sunday: 12 miles, yesterday:┬á5 miles, and today: 5 miles. All runs were under 8 minute miles, and my 12 mile run I did in 93 minutes, 54 seconds. I am running faster than I was when I trained for the Rock and Roll, but my body doesn’t feel as good.

Yoga: Yoga Saturday morning (morning classes are always SO much more difficult), and yoga Monday afternoon.

Walks and play time with Pablo every day.

Movies (DVDs and in the theater)

Socializing and down time with cool people

Visit to friend and her new baby

And I saved the best for last:

Yesterday, after I visited my friend and her 4 week old baby boy, I had an appointment with an advisor in the Educational Psychology department at UW. It felt SO good to be back on campus! I LOVE being a student, and I LOVE that campus, too! The meeting went great. I am right on track to get my application in January 7 for Autumn 2011. I have some writing to do over the next month, and then I will take the GRE after I finish my prep course the end of December. My goal is to have everything DONE by December 31 so I can do some celebrating NYE. čÖé

Today was a day of relaxation. I was surprised with a day at the spa. I got a 90 minute massage, 60 minute facial, and a spa pedicure. I was there 4 hours, and it was AMAZING! I needed this in a bad way. Relaxation has not been part of my daily routine for quite some time, and it felt good to be pampered. Thank you again, You, for my amazing day. čÖé

Pablo had his last class tonight. He did awesome. At the end of class, he was able to play…off leash…without his muzzle! He has a new friend, Parker, a 4 year old HUGE golden retriever. The same golden retriever he did NOT like the first couple of classes. Parker tried mounting Pablo a couple of times tonight during play time. Pablo snapped at him with a quick bark, but it stopped at that. Then they continued to play. Parker’s owner and I are going to be getting our kids together regularly for walks and play times. Class was a success! I will enroll him in another class after the new year, too, and Jeff (the teacher) said Pablo might even be ready to take a regular basic obedience class soon, too! YAY! I wish I would have done this months ago…

So, my stay-cation is over, and back to work I go. I am excited to see Baby H and get back into my hectic routine. Thanksgiving is coming up (my second favorite Holiday after Halloween). The half marathon is a week and a half away. AND, I go to Mexico in less than three months!

Pablo’s day

Today was all about Pablo. After I went for a 3 mile run, Pablo and I walked around Greenlake with two of his favorite ladies (in addition to me). I then worked for a few hours, so I brought Pablo with me! He hung out in the backyard. I brought Baby H outside to meet Pablo, and oh boy, it was one of the cutest things I have ever seen!┬áBaby H┬ástarted laughing when he saw Pablo. Every time Pablo moved and wiggled, Baby H would laugh. Pablo licked Baby H’s feet, and he laughed. Pablo shook his head around, and he laughed. Now, Baby H hasn’t laughed yet. This was his first real laugh, and Pablo was the cause of it! THAT is cool. Pablo was so excited to see a baby, and Baby H was obviously so excited to see a dog! They are going to be great friends. čÖé

Another really, really cute thing happened last night. After Pablo and I went for a walk, and then to Blockbuster (he was quite a hit with everyone inside). We went home to watch a movie (The Devil Wears Prada. No, I hadn’t seen it yet). I brought Pablo up on my bed, which I hadn’t done before, but I wanted someone big to cuddle with. Minutes after, Max (my scaredy┬ácat) jumped up, right in front of Pablo and laid down! Pablo sniffed his butt, and Max didn’t freak out! It was so, so, so cute. I had my boys both right next to me, and I was loving it. Pablo and I shared some green apple jelly bellys, and we all watched the movie.

Yoga, I missed you so much

I went to yoga┬áFriday night for the first time in nearly two weeks. I was in desperate need of it. My head felt clouded, I was lacking any new ideas, and I couldn’t get a hold of my emotions. 90 minutes of yoga changed all this.

I was so happy to see Erika teaching class. After being gone for so long, and for being in the mood I was in, it was very refreshing to see her smiling face. Class was very small; there were probably ten people in class. Friday night class is usually packed! I guess we were all missing out on a party somewhere (oh, how my priorities have changed). The room’s temperature was perfect, and class went quickly. Almost too quickly, actually, I wasn’t ready for it to be over! The warmth of the room, Erika’s soothing voice, and the movement of my body was giving me the peace I was in dire need of.

I pushed myself pretty hard, and I can feel definitely feel it (also from mowing my REALLY long lawn this weekend). I made it through ALMOST all of the standing poses without lying down. At the end, when we came to Tree pose, ,I was extremely light headed. I was wavering back and forth, and quickly got on the floor to lie down before I had to yell, “timber!” I have never gotten like that before. It was overwhelming. Almost like a rush. I made it back up to do both sets of Toe Stand pose: ┬áI felt the rush again when I finished. Luckily, I got a two minute┬árest in Savasana.

All the floor poses felt amazing. And when class ended? I seriously felt like I could have done another class.┬á I am counting down the hours until I go to yoga┬átomorrow night. Maybe I will do back to back classes? That’s crazy talk, I know.

I had an 8 mile run today, which finished up week 4 of training. I am more than 1/3 of the way done! I ran down at the beach, and even though the wind picked up for a little bit, it didn’t rain at all, and most of the run the winds were calm-ish. I ran 8 miles in 66 minutes, and I am so glad it went okay! My 8 mile run in my last training, I had major IT band problems, and ran in pain. No pain today. A little tightness in my groin, but nothing debilitating by any means. I have yoga to thank for that.

After my run, I prepared for a dog party. Pablo celebrated his birthday with me (and his human friends, people puppies, and doggy friends). Pablo, and his two boy dog friends, had us all laughing pretty hard: first we tried to get a picture with all of them wearing their party hats (that was impossible), then they all decided to hump each other…remember, they’re all boys, and they’re fixed (and they’re all very close in age)! My abs hurt. čÖé

Pablo had a great afternoon, and he was a very good boy.

Birthday boy:

Pablo’s new friend, Knox (a beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback):

And Pablo’s best buddy, Carusso (an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix…who is less than 2 weeks older than Pablo!):

And all tuckered out:

**I watched, “Must Love Dogs” with Pablo. We both enjoyed it very much.”
