1/2 way done

I am half way done with training for the half marathon. I had an AWESOME 9 mile run yesterday. I felt really, really good, which was refreshing after my not-so-fun 7 mile run last weekend in Cali. Ugh. I felt like I had a completely different body yesterday, and it was great. The weather was perfect also. Perfect temp, slightly cloudy so no blaring sun in my eyes, and no wind. It was nice.

Yoga Friday was amazing. Hot, challenging, sweaty, and it felt so good. I go again tonight!

We leave for Costa Rica in a month from yesterday!! We looked at pictures last night of some of the Costa Rica beaches, and started to get very excited. In a month we will be so ready to get out of damp, cold Seattle. BUT, right now we are having unseasonably warm, sunny days! It is absolutely beautiful today, and tomorrow it’s supposed to be close to 70! I’ll take it!

This coming weekend we have (weather permitting) plans to go on an overnight backpacking trip. It is still warm enough to squeeze a camping trip in before the end of the season. Hopefully it doesn’t rain!!

I am the epitome of happy…right now

This is my Happiness blog. It has been a place for me to write about all the things in my life, which make me happy. I have written about some pretty great things, but now…right now in my life, EVERYTHING is happy. For a long while, although I only wrote about the happy stuff…or at least tried to, there was always so much else going on in my life that I wouldn’t necessarily say made me very happy. I avoided writing about it…I was dealing with it, yes, but I didn’t want to bring all of my readers down. I was working through it, and all the happy things I wrote about were what helped me get to where I am now. It’s a pretty amazing place.

I am doing everything I love right now…I am surrounded by people I love and who love me back. I feel great.

I wake up every day and come hang out with Baby H. He is my buddy, and my days are spent laughing with him.

While he sleeps, I do another thing I absolutely love: I write. I write a lot. I have a lot of different projects I am working on right now, and it all makes me happy.

Every day, I move my body and sweat: running, yoga, climbing, brisk walk with Baby H, hiking, stand up paddle boarding…anything that makes me feel good.

I have an amazing circle of friends who I talk to and hang out with as much as I can.

I recently met someone amazing whom I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know.

My life is calm, happy, easy, and fun. All the pain, hard work, and grief I have endured the past couple of years has paid off BIG TIME. I have learned how to take care of myself, how to make myself happy, and how to say no to things that don’t make me feel good. EVERYTHING is working out perfectly, and at the right time, and I am welcoming it all in with a smile on my face. Life is good…life is really good, and I deserve everything good that is in my life right now. 🙂

Slam that door. Throw this door wide open.

I know I keep saying I am having amazing weekends, but this past weekend was the best one yet. AND, one of the best weekends I have had in a while. 🙂

The great weekend started on Friday. Less than an hour after I wrote my last blog entry about wanting to do another challenge, I got an email from a friend I met on our Mt. Adams climb about a multi-day hike/climb/camping trip the middle of August (not confirmed yet). He also mentioned a hike for Sunday. Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. Oh, the timing. 🙂

Saturday, the weather was a little gray and dreary, which was perfect, actually, since I had a lot of errands to run. I went for a run, then Pablo and I went for a walk, then I went to the vet to pick up some paperwork for Pablo, then I went to REI to get a couple of hiking things, then Pablo and I went to the lake for a quick swim (the sun had just started to come out), then I went home to get ready for dinner and a concert (Silversun Pickups). The show was awesome. They are really, really good. I realized why I like them so much: lots and lots of chord changes. 🙂

Sunday, I woke up pretty early and took Pablo for a quick walk before I headed east to meet for my hike. (Pablo stayed home for this hike. I don’t think he would have made it). We went to Granite Mountain: http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/GraniteMountain_7602.asp. It was a really good hike. Hard, but fun. Unfortunately, the clouds never lifted, so we weren’t able to see the amazing views from the top. 😦 And, it was pretty cold up there, too. It took us 1:49.50 to get up, and about the same amount of time to get down. Going down is not my favorite nor my strongest. My poor knees do not like it. I used poles toward the end, which definitely helped. I managed to escape debilitating pain. 🙂 I felt really good at the end of the hike, actually. I got very, very relaxed on the ride home.

When I got home, I took Pablo for another walk. On our walk, Pablo found some more friends. We walked by a house with 4 kids playing in the yard. Pablo planted all fours when we walked by and stared. The mom saw Pablo and started gushing how cute he was. That was all he needed to invite himself in their yard to play. We ended up staying close to a half hour! The mom and I chatted while Pablo rolled around with the four children, who ranged in age from 20 months up to 8. He was in heaven! The mom and I chatted about a lot, including relationships and yoga, and she then pulled out a sampling of yoga mat bags she was selling for her sister who lives in Brooklyn. They were hand sewn by her sister, and they were beautiful. She put one aside for me and gave me her card so I could pick it up when I had money with me. Have I mentioned how shy my dog is? Man, at this rate, we are going to know all of West Seattle soon!

After Pablo and I got home, I got ready to go to “Sunday Funday” with my hiking friend. Sunday Funday was down on Beach Drive in West Seattle. I arrived to a breathtaking view to the west (we saw a spectacular sunset), the most amazing food I had eaten in a while (homemade salmon burgers, a delicious crab concoction (fresh crab on toast with melted cheddar cheese on top), ribs, bacon wrapped hot dogs, and chili (I only ate the salmon burgers and the crab). After the sunset, we all settled inside to watch Entourage. It was a fantastic Sunday Funday…all day of it!
