Holy heat wave! Man, it’s toasty. I have been running inside on the treadmill in the morning to avoid the heat. It’s still hot! BUT, I am SO thankful the heat started AFTER the half marathon. Running long distances in this heat would be extremely unpleasant. But, I guess climbing Mt. Adams in this heat Saturday, with the reflection off the snow is going to be strenuous, too. Oooh boy.
I spent nearly two hours at REI last night. I was sleep deprived, and kept on forgetting what I needed. After a couple near meltdowns, I left with everything I needed both from the rental department and from purchases:
SPF pants that zip off into shorts (North Face on sale)
Polarized sunglasses (they were cheap!)
Wool hiking socks
Everything else I already have.
So, Trout Lake is the nearest town to Mt. Adams, and it is supposed to be 96 degrees there tomorrow. I do NOT have to worry about getting cold at night.
How will I get relief from the heat tomorrow? Sitting inside an air-conditioned car for the 4 1/2 hour drive tomorrow. Fun. So, tonight after work, I am heading to the lake to cool off. I cannot wait.
